Isn't it annoying when some lies and its really, I mean really, obvious that they lied? The other day a person I lied to me and I got so tired of the 'story' that I told the person that I don't believe him. Well that didn't help he just keep going making the 'story' more and more outrageous! So I said again I don't believe that could happen. And so he persisted to try and tell me more. WHY?!?!?! I don't believe him and I know hes lying and he just won't admit it...why? Attention? Does he just have the habit of lying? Does he actually think that's how his little adventure happened?
Just plain weird...

everybody lies...you know this...and i'm sure you can relate. and you're right, people do it for attention - for the wrong kind of attention. but a lot of respect is lost when people lie. is a lie really worth the trust that is lost after a lie?
i think anonymous made a good point here - is the lie worth the trust that will be lost? i've learned that lesson myself firsthand and its definitely NOT worth it. maybe you need to avoid the liar or say right up front that you don't want fabricated stories. tell him to just be himself and that you will accept him without all the 'false window dressing'.
hey not so little cousin, chris from alaska here...you know when i was growing up i was a liar, i did it for acceptance, i didn't think my friends would except the boring me. besides the grace of God it was a group of friends who really excepted me for me...boring old me. they did this by first blowing off my stories and then complimenting my ability to tell stories. it was a two fold lesson first they did what you did...they weren't going to accept my lies...second they encouraged me asking to hear another one of my "stories"
blessings,
Thanx Chris for your comment! I think I will try what your friends tried with you!
