Smash, Trash and... Sin?

I have a very general Question...Is it sinful to want to break things? I mean some days (most days) when I walk past a big window I want to take a brick and just smash the window!! I've never actually done it before; however the urge has always been there. I just want to see it happen and watch the glass crumble down in slow motion (like the movies). OK I know it won't be in slow motion but man it would still be fun!

well....smashing windows eh? you know me - practical questions come to mind: are you paying for replacement? (your parents aren't that's for sure!) do you have permission to smash said window? who will be watching and how will that affect them and their future choices? check out paul's words about believer's freedom in 1 corinthians 10:23-24. mom

I found your blog through your mom's blog. And I don't think it is sinful at all to WANT to break things. I think almost all boys (and men) and even some girls have the same thoughts. I mean really, it would LOOK cool. And it's not like you actually go around breaking stuff. Right?

Very interesting! I agree with Tara, it's not sinful to want to break something. That's a temptation and temptation isn't sin. I hope you'll check out your mom's suggestion of 1 Corinthians 10:23-23. I also like 1 Cor. 10:13

Smashing good times! I can relate totally Kaleb. There is something cathartic and releasing to smash stuff. I demolished a house once, on the day we leveled the walls a teen from the church and I put on gloves and punched out all the windows. (It was my house, legal and square).
The quesion is, I think, one of timing and appropriateness. There is a great career in properly razing buildings.
Spiritually though, it makes me think of all things in my life and self that need demolished to facilitate Spiritual Formation.

2Cor 10:4-5 speak of a need for Christ-followers to be destructive!
