Black and White...

How black and white do you (any who reads this blog...if anyone still does...) think the bible is?
I was considering this the other day and it just almost seems to make sense. Becuase I think we make it grey because we don't want to accept what the bible says all the time. We try and find a deeper meaning to we only pick out certain words to listen to and that changes the meaning. The grayness of the bible would only show that God wants us to figure it all out on our own, but Jesus was usually willing to explain things to the disciples in common language and stories. I think we need to look at the bible more literal than most people take it as...

Hey man, just thought you should know people are still reading :)

As for the black and white question, thats a tough one. I'm not sure if you've experienced this but I've sat through a movie with someone and we have both gotten something completely different from the movie and believed it to be saying something different. This seems to be even more common with books and the stuff we read. One of the nice things in not believing there is only one interpretation of any particular piece of any text is that it allows people to disagree and talk with each other and learn from each other instead of one person being right and one wrong. Not to mention, understanding just what is going on in many of those stories is quite difficult. Allow me a very simple example. Here is a quote from biblegateway NIV version Proverbs 26: 4-5.

4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly,or you will be like him yourself.

5 Answer a fool according to his folly,or he will be wise in his own eyes.
